Secret Earring Swap

I just had this really fun idea while daydreaming here at work!! Would anyone be interested in doing a mass secret earring swap??!! I know it doesn't have anything to do with knitting, but who doesn't love earrings and receiving stuff in the mail? And they don't weigh very much, so the postage (even international) will be cheap.

So, I would compile a list of everyone who wants to participate, and then assign everyone with a person to send earrings to. What do you think? I am tempted to limit the colour of the earrings to pink, but that might be a little tough.

The rules would go something like this:

* The earrings should be new (pinku likes hygiene)
* The earrings should be super cute (and preferable pink!!)
* You should spend no more than $5 (or the equivalent in foreign currency) on the earrings
* You must wrap the earrings in cute paper and send them with love to your earring swap partner

Back from OK/SF

Jet lag makes me very productive.....in the mornings that is. I have been waking up early like 4am and falling asleep at 9pm. My trip to OK/SF went by in a complete flash - was I ever really there? Most of our photos are still on the camera, which is still on holiday, so I only have a few to show for today. We visited some really fun and strange places during our trip like the Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, the Beaver sandhills, WALMART, and lots of thrift stores in Tulsa. I was blown away by the size of food servings - all so delicious but oh so big. I only managed to visit the Urban Knitting Studio in Hayes Valley in SF. It was lovely, but I have a feeling that you have access to more variety and cheaper prices online. However, the owner was very helpful and sold me her personal copy of Rebecca and it is always nice to walk around and feel all those yarns you've only read about online.

This is a fun bar in Tulsa that we went to, and if you look in the background you'll see a big glass building. Well, a few days later there was a pretty vicious thunderstorm in Tulsa and a bunch of these window panes fell out - luckily noone was hurt!!

Beaver is OK

A quick hello from Beaver, Oklahoma!! Well the sun is shining and the land is flat. Darin's granny said that they need some rain here, so I might have to arrange for some of Tokyo's rainy season to be sent over to Oklahoma - a rain swap....sort of like a yarn swap!!

Did not have any trouble getting my Denise knitting needles (I might have had more trouble if they were straight metal needles) on the plane and they were an absolute god-send. I loved knitting during the flight BUT I ran out of yarn only a few hours into the flight - NOOOOOOO!!! It's terrible really. So I got Darin to stop at a Walmart in Tulsa and all they had was a wall of acrylic and eyelash yarns....so I bought nothing.

Apart from that I have been eating WAY too much. It was pretty funny as I got off the plane in Minneappolis I was welcomed by the smell of Pizza Hut and Starbucks - welcome to the USA. It's been fantastic hanging out with Darin's family and as I mentioned earlier the food is absolutely fabulous BUT thank goodness I am only staying a week. I have enjoyed brisket (is that the right spelling?), sausage gravy and biscuits, pecan pie and some home cooked deep fried chicken - YEE HA!!!
