The Tokyo SNB continues to attract attention from virtually every media outlet in Japan. I think we have now been interviewed by every major newspaper, most of the major tv stations, NHK radio, and the list doesn't end there. I got Darin to scan in this article coz it is really awesome. The illustrator Hiro HAYASHI has a column in the Sankei Shinbun and this week (Tuesday Nov 29) his topic was the Tokyo SNB, or rather the so-called knit cafe boom in Tokyo. This boom is seriously something the newspapers have made up - there is no boom, but it would be great if there really was one though.
Anyway, the drawing was so cool I was kind of bummed that I didn't get drawn.....too busy running around trying to answer all of the reporters questions. So anyway even after contacting me a million times, Hayashi-san did end up getting the days of the Tokyo SNB mixed up - it's actually the 1st and 3rd Tueesday of every month, not Wednesday. Here's the illustration with Tokyo SNB members: Carrie, Pinn and Andrea - way to go girls!!!!
That is a great feature! I guess the "boom" hasn't made it down to Mie-ken yet. I'll have to get back to Tokyo for SnB soon!

How exactly do you get interviewed by every major Japanese newspaper? I'd like to know, because we need some more exposure for Bantus Capoeira. jp.bantus.org

That is great fun! Shame you were to busy rushing around to get sketched, but what a great memento...

That's really funny that the boom is made-up. But that drawing is really cool! And how fun to be interviewed!

Lucky you! How did you start it up? I am trying to do one in the Kyoto/Osaka/Kobe area, but so far there are just two of us (except for a group of teachers I work with who also have a club).
