So I had my first pumped milk disaster. Well it's not really a disaster but anyone that pumps for their baby knows the heartache of having to throw away pumped milk especially when you don't have a large stash....um or virtually no stash in the freezer. In the excitement of daz's bday on thursday I forgot to put my pumped milk into the fridge when I got home and only discovered it yesterday....of course I had to throw it away.
Some of my mama tomos who breastfeed had a big supply of milk and others not so big when their babes were born, but mine has been average from the beginning - which means I've never really had to pump a lot (before going back to work). I was kinda slack about the whole building a milk stash thing before going back to work and only had about 10 X 100 ml bags in the freezer when I did go back, so we mainly use fresh milk from the day before....therefore we have to be careful. It's not such a big deal now since Jake is on solids and can eat other stuff if necessary and daz can always bring him to me at lunchtime for a feed, but it still SUCKS to throw milk away.
When I pump at work this is my view
It's a pretty nice view (you can see the big buildings of shinjuku in the background) but I usually close the blinds so no-one gets an eyeful of....well yeah anyway. I'd much rather this be my view all day long.
I know what you mean! Although the worst was when E was in the hospital and I had just brought in a nice full bottle for him so he would have it for the night feeding...and the nurse dropped it on the floor. aauuughghhh!!!!
I couldn't pump more, and I couldn't stay all night to feed him, so they 'just gave him formula'. so sad.

I'm an exclusively pumping mama (long story, but baby won't breastfeed), but I'm managing to outproduce her at the moment. I'm also at my parents' house making bunches of extra milk stored in the freezer, which I'm not sure how I'm going to get home (11 hours away!).

My interest in any milk stories is zero percent and I don't think it's very appropriate on a Pinku blog. Maybe you could start another more mother-releated one and keep this for amusing anecdotes, photos and knitting. Breast milk = BORING!
Bring back Pinku!

I was in the exact same boat as you! I never pumped enough to have a stash. Max was such a big eater that the bottle I had in advance he'd eat right before his night feeding and then breast feed both breasts! So, I never had but maybe one bottle in advance and every once in a while like you I'd forget to put one in the fridge and have to toss it. Made me feel bad to do that... Soon, though you might catch up as he starts eating more solids. I was able to catch up around 10 months old but still...

I hate it when I waste my milk. Especially when I was pumping so much that I stored large bags, but defrosting so much at once, I end up wasting it. My husband doesn't get it. He thinks of it as a renewable resource.
baby awake -bye
